Harcourts Battlefields Marathon 2019

I am medically fit to compete and fully understand that I enter at my own risk and the organizers and their sponsors will not be held responsible for any loss or injury during or as a result of the event. I agree to comply with the rules of the IAAF, Athletics South Africa and Kwazulu-Natal athletics for my participation in this event. The race is run under the auspices and rules of KZNA, ASA and IAAF.
RACE RULES AND INFORMATION:
The event is over a 21Km circular course through Newcastle Battlefields on the D96 from Hutten Park Primary
School out to Vulintaba and back.
TIME OF EVENT:
Runners: 42.2KM: 06:00 (5.30 cut-off) Runners / Walkers 21.1km: 06:15 (3.30 hrs cut-0ff time)
Runners / walkers: 10km: 06:15 (3.30 hrs cut-0ff time)
The race will be timed. A Comrades (4h50) and Two Oceans qualifier (5hrs).
ASA Rule 6: Temporary licenses valid for all races accept 42.2 km only ASA license applies.
All marathon (42.2km) entrants must be licensed athletes.
ASA rule 25.5 -Temporary licenses: Temporary licensed athletes are not covered by a national insurance policy. Refer to ASA Rule 25.5.15 of Domestic Rules and Regulations.
Temporary licenses must be worn on the front of your vest / crop top.
START AND FINISH VENUE:
The event will start and finish at Hutten Park Primary School rugby field. Address: 4 Rietbok Ave, Hutten Heights, Newcastle, 2956.
Pre-entries can be done online on www.newcastleharriers.co.za from Tuesday the 1st of January 2019 to Friday the 15th of February 2019. Late entries not accepted on race day. Race number collection takes place on Friday the 1st of March from 15:00- 20:00 at Hutten Park Primary School, and on race day from 5:00 – 5:45
ASA rule 22.10 – Minimum age on race day : (33- 42.2km and longer): Participant must be 20 years or older on race day, (22- 32km): Participant must be 19 years or older on race day,(16- 21.1km): Participant must be 16 years or older on race day, (15km): Participant must be 15 years or older on race day, (10km): Participant must be 14 years or older on race day,(5km): Participant must be 9 years or older on race day. Entry fees are not refundable for any reason whatsoever including cancellation of the event. Entries are not transferable to other athletes. Free entry to those 60 years of age and older.
TOG BAG FACILITY:
Tog Bag facility will be provided at Huttenpark Primary School on race day, but at owner" risk. A tag will be provided when handing in your bag. Bags will be released once owner can provide tag. Bags and goods laying around on rounds on race day will not be under our supervision.
Refreshment stations will be provided along the route and NO personal seconding will be permitted. There will be 9 refreshment tables along the route, providing athletes with water and coke.
Prize giving will take place @ 11:30 for all race distances. Proof of age may be required.
ASA Rule 2.12: Proof of age will be required for age category winners.

ASA Rule 25.4.8: Current licence numbers must be worn on the front and back of the vest.
ASA Rule 22 & 33: New ASA/KZNA approved age category tags(60mm to 80mm) & Walker tags “W" to be worn on front and back of vest and must be clearly visible to be eligible for a prize.
ASA rule 22.1: Junior athletes 19 years or younger on 31 December of the year ofthe event, must wear a “J"on the upper front and back of vest in order to be eligible for prizes and must provide proof of age on race day.
ASA Rule 26: Organizers/Athletes may NOT replace ASA license number with Competition/ Race Numbers / Stickers
under any circumstances. When a Competition / Race number is used it must be placed so that the ASA license
sponsor and ASA province/year remains visible above the Competition/ Race number. The License numerals may be
covered. Athletes who fail to adhere to this rule may be disqualified. (refer to Rule 26.1.7 of 2017 Domestic Rules and
ASA Rule 25.5: Unregistered athletes running in Temporary Licenses must run in neutral colours and adhere to IAAF and ASA Rules.
ASA Rule 25.5.13: Holders of temporary licenses will be eligible for individual prizes and may claim age category prizes in keeping with IAAF and ASA Rules.

ASA Rule ii.a:
The race will be run in accordance with the rules of IAAF, ASA and KZN and all participants to abide these rules.
ASA Rule 9: All foreign athletes must comply with IAAF Rules 4.2 and 142 together with ASA Rule 9.
ASA Rule 19: Marshalls, Traffic Officials, Referees and Technical Officials must be obeyed.
